Greater Louisville Inc., the metro chamber of commerce, has again partnered with the Kentucky Rx Card, a statewide prescription assistance program designed to reduce the cost of medications.

This is the fifth year GLI has promoted the program, according to a letter to its members.

The Kentucky Rx Card helps make prescriptions more affordable for the uninsured and underinsured and can be used to supplement most health insurance plans, including health savings accounts and high deductible plans, the letter said. It also assists people who are paying for non-covered medications or paying drug costs out-of-pocket.

Kentucky Rx Card users are eligible for discounts ranging from 30 percent to 75 percent on both brand and generic medications.

The Kentucky Rx Card requires no enrollment forms, and it has no age or income requirements, according to the GLI letter. There are no waiting periods or exclusions.

The card provides savings at more than 56,000 pharmacies across the country.
